Bruce Schreiner, CPA
Bruce E. Schreiner, CPA, is a Shareholder of Schroeder & Schreiner, P.C. He is a native of Hastings, Nebraska, and graduated magna cum laude from Hastings College in 1975 earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in both Economics and Business Administration with emphasis in accounting. He served as an Agent with the Internal Revenue Service for over five years, culminating in an appointment to the Technical and Review Staff in Omaha, Nebraska, for the entire Nebraska District. He then was associated with another local CPA firm for eleven years before jointly creating Schroeder & Schreiner, P.C. in 1991 with George Schroeder, retired former shareholder.
Bruce's areas of expertise include business development, business structure advice, investment analyses, tax planning in federal income, gift, estate, excise, and employment taxes for individuals, corporations, partnerships, estates, and trusts, and in retirement planning. He possesses special expertise in all facets of client representation before the Internal Revenue Service. He also holds several securities and insurance licenses.
Bruce is a member of the American Institute and Nebraska Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Grand Island Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Grand Island Rotary. He serves as Finance Committee Chair for Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Island. He has also served on several Grand Island area civic organizations' Boards of Directors.
Brett Rockwell, cpa
Brett Rockwell joined Schroeder & Schreiner, P.C. in June of 1994. Brett graduated cum laude with double majors from Hastings College in May of 1994. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in both Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting and in Mathematics. Brett was promoted to shareholder in 2008.
Brett works primarily in the tax department, specializing in tax law research, planning, and tax return preparation. He has significant expertise in corporate consolidated returns analysis and preparation, limited liability company tax issues, limited partnership tax issues, estate/trust income tax planning, and is responsible for reviewing tax returns prepared in the office for technical, factual and compliance accuracy.
Brett is a member of the American Institute and the Nebraska Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Heather Zurita, CPA
Heather Zurita joined Schroeder & Schreiner, P.C. in June of 2013. She is a Grand Island, Nebraska native. She graduated from Hastings College in May of 2013, earning a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Accounting and Economics. Heather was promoted to Shareholder in 2021.
Heather's areas of expertise includes individuals, partnerships, and corporations income tax preparation. She is experienced in financial statement preparation, compilation and review procedures for small businesses. She is also experienced in recordkeeping accounting services and use of certain accounting software systems.
Heather is a member of the American Institute and the Nebraska Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Nikki Arredondo
Nikki Arredondo joined Schroeder & Schreiner, P.C. as Office Manager in 2022. She resides in Gibbon, NE. Prior to joining the firm, she had experience in Human Resources, Office Administration, and Public Relations. She is responsible for all facets of the administration department.
Nikki’s areas of expertise include the processing of tax returns, financial statements, E-filing, and the processing and maintenance of all client correspondence and communication documents. Her managerial responsibilities include coordinating schedules and appointments, overseeing and coordinating all of the offices’ administrative activities, system management, equipment procurement, marketing, public relations, and personnel matters.
Deanna Brand
Deanna Brand joined Schroeder & Schreiner, P.C. in December of 2012. She is a native of and continues to reside in Hastings, Nebraska. In 2009, she graduated from Hastings College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting. Prior to joining Schroeder & Schreiner, P.C., she gained three years of experience in tax preparation, payroll, and audits working as an accountant for two other CPA firms.
Deanna's area of expertise includes preparation of individuals, partnerships, and corporate tax returns. She is experienced in financial statements preparation and compilation services, performs payroll functions, and recordkeeping accounting services. She also prepares and files Medicare cost reports for skilled nursing and assisted living facilities.
DIANNE DANHAUER
Dianne Danhauer joined Schroeder & Schreiner, P.C. part-time in February, 2021. She is an Aurora, Nebraska native and currently resides in Saint Libory, Nebraska. Prior to joining the firm, she has been self-employed and also worked over 30 years for a CPA firm in Aurora gaining knowledge of various aspects of tax preparation and accounting work.
Dianne’s experience includes tax preparation, payroll & sales tax reporting, and other bookkeeping services. She is a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church and currently serves as Church Treasurer.
Rose Helgoth
Rose Helgoth joined Schroeder & Schreiner, P.C. as Administrative Assistant in 1991, and was promoted to Office Manager in 1997. She resides in St. Libory NE. She is responsible for all facets of the administration department. Rose switched to seasonal employment in the fall of 2022.

Angie hettinger
Angela Hettinger joined Schroeder & Schreiner, P.C. as a Staff Accountant in December 2019. She is a native of Giltner, Nebraska and now resides in St. Paul, Nebraska. Angie graduated from Central Community College of Hastings with an Associated Degree in Accounting in 2005 and an Associated Degree in Health Information Management in 2013. Angie gained experience in payroll processing, QuickBooks, Accounting CS and medical coding/billing as an Accounting Assistant/Medical Biller for another CPA firm.
Angie’s area of experience includes knowledge of payroll preparation and reporting, medical coding and billing for Radiology and Durable Medical Equipment. She also is experienced in the use of certain accounting software systems.
Sue Horton
Sue Horton joined Schroeder & Schreiner, P.C. in February of 2007. She is a native of and continues to reside in Hastings, Nebraska. In 2001, she graduated from Hastings College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting and minor in Economics. Prior to joining Schroeder & Schreiner, P.C., she was an auditor for the Nebraska Department of Revenue with emphasis in Sales and Use Tax, Withholding Tax, and other Nebraska Department of Revenue tax programs. She then worked for five years in private industry in Hastings, with primary duties of payroll, along with assisting in all areas of financial operations.
Sue's area of experience includes knowledge of payroll preparation and reporting. She also is experienced in the use of certain accounting software systems. Sue also prepares individual, partnership, and corporate tax returns, monthly recordkeeping accounting services, and preparation, compilation and review of financial statements services.
Carmen Larson, CPA
Carmen Larson joined Schroeder & Schreiner, P.C. in June of 1996, bringing over two years of accounting experience with her. She is a native of Springview, Nebraska and now resides in St. Libory, Nebraska area. She graduated cum laude from Midland Lutheran College, Fremont, Nebraska in May of 1993 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting and Management.
Carmen's areas of expertise include QuickBooks and Peachtree software, tax planning and preparation for individuals, partnerships, and corporations, payroll and payroll tax return preparation, financial statement preparation, compilation or review services, and recordkeeping accounting services.

Rachel Thomson joined Schroeder & Schreiner, P.C. in September of 2023. She resides in Hastings, NE. She graduated from Hastings College in May of 2023 with a Bachlor of Arts Degree in Accounting and Business Administration. She is a Veteran of the Nebraska Army National Guard where she served as an Army Musician.
Rachel prepares individual, partnership, and corporate tax returns. Rachel is also knowledgeable in monthly recordkeeping accounting services, and preparation and compilation of financial statement services.
