Shareholders:

George W. Schroeder, CPA is a shareholder of Schroeder & Schreiner, P.C. He is a native of Omaha, Nebraska, and graduated with honors from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. He was associated with an international accounting firm in Omaha for over seven years before moving to Grand Island in 1977. He was then associated with a local CPA firm for over fifteen years before jointly creating Schroeder & Schreiner, P.C. in 1991 with Bruce Schreiner.

George's areas of expertise include accounting systems for construction and manufacturing companies, auditing, personal financial planning and business valuations.

George is an accredited personal financial specialist by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and completed the integrated business valuation program of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants as well. He is a member of the American Institute and the Nebraska Society of Certified Public Accountants, a member of the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce and Grand Island Rotary. He is also a member of the YMCA Endowment Fund Board, past Secretary/Treasurer and Trustee of the Grand Island Industrial Foundation, past President of the Grand Island YMCA and past President of Riverside Golf Club.

Bruce E. Schreiner, CPA, is a shareholder of Schroeder & Schreiner, P.C. He is a native of Hastings, Nebraska, and graduated magna cum laude from Hastings College in 1975 earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in both Economics and Business Administration with emphasis in accounting. He served as an Agent with the Internal Revenue Service for over five years, culminating in an appointment to the Technical and Review Staff in Omaha, Nebraska, for the entire Nebraska District. He then was associated with another local CPA firm for eleven years before jointly creating Schroeder & Schreiner, P.C. in 1991 with George Schroeder.

Bruce's areas of expertise include business development, business structure advice, investment analyses, tax planning in federal income, gift, estate, excise, and employment taxes for individuals, corporations, partnerships, estates, and trusts, and in retirement planning. He possesses special expertise in all facets of client representation before the Internal Revenue Service.

Bruce is a member of the American Institute and Nebraska Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Grand Island Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Grand Island Rotary. He serves as Finance Committee Chair for Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Island. He also serves on several of the Grand Island Heartland United Way committees.  

David Sander is a shareholder of Schroeder & Schreiner, PC.  Dave joined Schroeder & Schreiner, P.C. in November of 1998. He was promoted to the Team level of Manager in January 2003. He graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics. Prior to joining the Firm, he worked for three years as a controller for a local corporation.

His areas of expertise include individual, business and agricultural accounting and income tax planning and preparation, fiduciary and estate income tax return planning and preparation, and is also responsible for several larger client certified audits.

Dave further maintains and is continually enhancing the Firm's computer network and related accounting, tax and systems software.

Dave is a member of the American Institute and the Nebraska Society of Certified Public Accountants, and a member of the Grand Island Rotary.

Team Members: (in alphabetical order)

Jason Cottam joined Schroeder & Schreiner, P.C. in June, 2004. Prior to joining the firm, he worked as a volunteer for the RIS VITA/TCE tax assistance program and performed duties for Auto Value Parts Stores in Hastings.

He graduated with honors from Central Community College in Hastings with an Associates Degree in Accounting. He is a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Hastings.

Emily Everingham joined Schroeder & Schreiner, PC in June 2007.  She is a native of Benedict, Nebraska and now resides in Stromsburg, Nebraska.  She graduated from Midland Lutheran College, Fremont, Nebraska with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with concentrations in accounting and management. Prior to joining the firm, she interned at the Fremont Area Chamber of Commerce.  At the Chamber, she assisted with all areas of the organization including bookkeeping, event organization, database creation & management and administrative assistance.

Emily's are of expertise include corporate, partnership and individual income tax return preparation, bookkeeping services, payroll services, and compilations.

Rose Helgoth joined Schroeder & Schreiner, P.C. as Administrative Assistant in 1991, and was promoted to Office Manager in 1997.  She was associated with a local CPA firm for five years prior to joining Schroeder & Schreiner, P.C.   She is responsible for all facets of the administration department.

Her areas of expertise include the processing of all tax returns, E-filing, and the processing and maintenance of all client correspondence and communication documents.  Her managerial responsibilities include system management, equipment procurement, marketing, public relations, and personnel matters.

Sue Horton joined Schroeder & Schreiner, P.C. in February, 2007.  She is a native of and continues to reside in Hastings, Nebraska.  In 2001, she graduated from Hastings College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting and minor in Economics.  Prior to joining Schroeder & Schreiner, P.C., she was an auditor for the Nebraska Department of Revenue with emphasis in Sales and Use Tax, Withholding Tax, and other Nebraska Department of Revenue tax programs. She then worked for five years in private industry in Hastings, with primary duties of payroll, along with assisting in all areas of financial operations. 

Her area of experience includes knowledge of payroll preparation and reporting.  She also prepares Individual, Partnership, Corporate tax returns, and monthly accounting services.

Tanya Johansen joined Schroeder & Schreiner, P.C. in August of 2005. She is a Farwell, Nebraska, native and now resides in St. Paul, Nebraska. She graduated cum laude from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in May of 2005, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting. Before joining Schroeder & Schreiner, PC, she gained two years of experience in tax law and tax preparation working as a tax associate for H&R Block in Kearney, Nebraska. In addition, she also has banking experience working at St. Paul Bank in St. Paul.

Tanya’s expertise includes individuals, partnerships, corporations and employee benefit plans. Tanya also has experience in small business and employee benefit plan audits and respective financial statement preparation and/or presentation.   Tanya is experienced in compilation and review procedures for small businesses and preparation and/or presentation of the respective financial statements.  Tanya also is experienced in bookkeeping and use of certain accounting software systems. Tanya is a member of the American Institute and the Nebraska Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Doug joined Schroeder & Schreiner, P.C. in July 2005.  He graduated from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting.  He was previously associated with another local CPA firm for 27 years prior to joining Schroeder & Schreiner, P.C.

Doug's areas of expertise include tax, auditing and Medicaid-related services to all Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Facilities.  He provides services to Long Term Care Facilities in over 10 states, and has provided these services for over 30 years.

Doug is a member of the American Institute and Nebraska Society of Certified Public Accountants, an associate member of the Nebraska Health Care Associations, and an associate member of the Nebraska Association of Homes and Services for the Aging.  Doug is also a past President of the Board of Directors for the Grand Island YMCA.

Carmen Larson, CPA joined Schroeder & Schreiner, P.C. in June 1996, bringing over two years of accounting experience with her. She graduated Cum Laude from Midland Lutheran College, Fremont, Nebraska in May 1993 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting.

Her areas of expertise include proficiency in Quickbooks (Pro) and Peachtree software. She also prepares Corporate, Partnership and Individual income tax returns, monthly accounting write-up services, and Compiled and Reviewed Financial Statements.

Carmen is a member of the American Institute and the Nebraska Society of Certified Public Accountants. She also is a water aerobics instructor at the YMCA.

Gail Prather joined Schroeder & Schreiner, P.C.  as an Administrative Assistant in May of 2007.  She is originally from San Diego, CA and attended Grossmont College in El Cajon, CA.  As a military spouse, she has had opportunities to live in CA, WA, MN and NE.

Her areas of expertise include processing income tax returns, financial statements and cost reports, E-filing, and assisting with any administrative duties for the Firm.

She is a member of Harvest Time Baptist Church and is involved in many activities with her children.  She is an expert quilter and teaches quilting classes and seminars.

Brett Rockwell, CPA joined Schroeder & Schreiner, P.C. in June of 1994. He was promoted to Senior Tax Manager in 2005. Brett graduated cum laude with double majors from Hastings College in May of 1994. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting and in Mathematics.

Brett works primarily in the tax department, specializing in tax law research, planning, and tax return preparation. He has significant expertise in corporate consolidated returns analysis and preparation, limited liability company tax issues, limited partnership tax issues, life insurance tax planning, estate income tax planning, and is responsible for reviewing tax returns prepared in the office for technical, factual and compliance accuracy.

Brett is a member of Alpha Chi National Honorary Society and also a member of the American Institute and the Nebraska Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Brandy Woita joined Schroeder and Schreiner, PC in September 2007.  She is a Brainard, NE native and now resides in Palmer, NE.  She graduated in May of 2005 from Central Community College in Grand Island with an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Business Administration with an Accounting emphasis.  Brandy brings with her payroll experience and experience in all facets of the small business accounting environment. 

Brandy's duties include payroll, accounts receivable, as well as assisting with any administrative duties for the firm.
